Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Optical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Oval Optical. As an Optical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in maintaining prescription records, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and performing general clerical duties. You will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining the cleanliness of collection areas, processing files and paperwork, scheduling and confirming appointments, ordering supplies and equipment, organizing and maintaining inventory, making minor adjustments and repairs, and arranging for grinding or polishing of lenses or grind and polish lenses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain prescription records and ensure accurate and timely processing of prescriptions
  • Clean and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Perform general clerical duties, including data entry and filing
  • Prepare and maintain the cleanliness of collection areas to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Process files and paperwork efficiently and accurately
  • Schedule and confirm appointments with clients to ensure timely and efficient service
  • Order supplies and equipment as needed to maintain a well-stocked inventory
  • Organize and maintain inventory to ensure easy access and retrieval of supplies and equipment
  • Make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment as needed to ensure optimal performance
  • Arrange for grinding or polishing of lenses or grind and polish lenses as needed to ensure accurate and precise prescriptions


Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Ability to train and learn new skills quickly
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Efficient interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively


Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
  • Work in a fast-paced optical laboratory environment
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as needed
