Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Class 1 Driver to join our team at Cooper Equipment Rentals. As a Class 1 Driver, you will be responsible for operating and delivering heavy construction equipment to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload equipment, securing it according to company procedures and inspecting it during transit if necessary.
  • Deliver and pick up equipment, maintaining accurate delivery and pickup records.
  • Secure customer signatures on contracts, if not already signed.
  • Inform supervisors of any difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
  • Identify new sales opportunities and job sites, informing management accordingly.
  • Verify delivered items to ensure customers receive the correct equipment.
  • Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, notifying customers as needed.
  • Instruct customers on equipment operation.
  • Handle missing or broken equipment, completing the necessary forms and submitting them to the Branch Manager.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections, checking gas, oil, and fluid levels.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 driver's license with a driver's abstract (no more than three demerit points).
  • Familiarity with local roads and comfort with manual transmission.
  • Experience operating and delivering heavy construction equipment, including earthmoving equipment and aerial equipment.
  • Availability to work overtime when required.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
