Job Summary

The Civil Design Engineer will be responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. This role involves devising new approaches to problems, preparing or modifying drawings, and monitoring work compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and TEP standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement civil design and engineering techniques and procedures
  • Conduct independent work and make judgments in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Prepare or modify drawings and monitor work compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and TEP standards
  • Devise new approaches to problems and implement solutions

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or a related field
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD
  • Telecommunication experience would be an asset
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to work in Canada

  • Demonstrate focus on accuracy and high attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed-upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively
  • Strong project management skills: ability to organize applicable department timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs as needed
  • Self-motivated, able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests as well as collaborating with others to utilize resources and knowledge in identifying high-quality solutions
  • Ability to work with functional groups and different levels of employees throughout the organization to effectively and professionally achieve business results
  • Strong track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with both internal and external customers and vendors
  • Proficient with computer software programs, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Adhere to all company and industry standard/regulations/safety practices

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This is a hybrid office environment; minimum three days in the office. Work is being performed in a climate-controlled internal office environment.
