Job Title: LINC Instructor

We are seeking a qualified LINC Instructor to join our team at School District #41 (Burnaby). As a LINC Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching level-appropriate Literacy-English skills to adult immigrant and refugee newcomers, increasing their understanding of Canadian local, social, workplace, and cultural norms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach Literacy-English skills to adult immigrant and refugee newcomers
  • Connect immigrants to the community through field trips and guest speakers
  • Monitor student progress through portfolio-based language assessments and provide feedback to students
Qualifications:
  • PBLA Certificate
  • Blended Courses- Require LearnIT2Teach- Stage 2
  • Valid TESOL certificate recognized by TESOL Canada
  • Undergraduate Degree
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience, preferred, teaching ESL to adults and knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmark competencies and associated resources OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Skills and Abilities:
  • Able to use a variety of tech tools - Email, Microsoft Office, Teams
  • Ability to communicate fluently and accurately in both written and oral English
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, and the public who may come from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds
