Job Summary

The Pest Control Technician will be responsible for the elimination and management of pests in Manitoba Housing portfolio locations. This includes working as part of a team to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of pest management in accordance with federal/provincial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform pest elimination and integrated pest management in Manitoba Housing portfolio locations on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of pest management in accordance with federal/provincial regulations.
  • Prepare units and buildings for pest treatment.
  • Maintain inventories of materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Follow pest management best practices, procedures, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team environment.

Requirements

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record check with vulnerable persons check.
  • Ability to wear and use personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • A valid Structural Pesticide Applicator's license from the Province of Manitoba.
  • A valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's license.
  • Ability to travel throughout the province by vehicle, small aircraft, and boat.
  • Ability to work outside of regular business hours as necessary.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., kneeling, crouching, bending, standing, walking, walking up stairs, working in dusty conditions, and confined spaces, working at heights, working in extreme hot or cold temperatures.

Qualifications

  • Experience in pesticide application, pest inspection, and heat treatment.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal effectively with tenants and the public.
  • Ability to follow pest management best practices, procedures, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of safe work procedures and safe chemical handling procedures.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.

Working Conditions

The incumbent will work in a variety of environments, including residential and commercial buildings, and may be required to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme temperatures.

Education and Experience

Post-secondary education in a related field and relevant experience in pest control and management.

Language

English is the primary language of work, but proficiency in other languages is an asset.
