Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Disability Management Consultant to join our team at Finning. As a key member of our HR department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of employee disabilities and promoting a culture of inclusivity and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Active management of complex disability files, including short and long-term disability, workplace injuries, and accommodation requests.
  • Provide consultation and education on disability management processes and relevant legislation.
  • Develop and update procedures, policies, and best practices to ensure compliance and excellence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including employees, leaders, HR peers, and external service providers.
  • Manage files accurately, confidentially, and securely, adhering to required structures and components.
  • Interpret medical reporting, create medical questionnaires, and identify work restrictions and limitations.
  • Develop return-to-work plans, working collaboratively with employees, leaders, and HR as needed.
  • Provide coaching, training, and education to team members, HR peers, and leaders.
  • Resolve conflicts and facilitate difficult discussions, focusing on interest-based outcomes.
  • Provide information to Legal and/or create written responses on behalf of Finning for grievances, WCB claim appeals, and other requests.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of broad disability management experience.
  • Professional designation and/or industry-specific training.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
