Licensed Practical Nurse

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Interior Health Authority, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Your expertise will be essential in assessing and planning, implementing, and providing personal and nursing care to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
Under the direction and supervision of a physician/nurse practitioner, you will provide orthopaedic care by performing duties such as assessing and evaluating patient condition, reviewing x-rays to confirm plan of care, applying casts and splints, removing externally exposed pins, wires, staples, and sutures, setting up traction equipment, and performing related orthopaedic duties.
As a member of our team, you will operate in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), and according to organizational policies, procedures, standards, and unit-specific protocols.
We currently have several permanent part-time opportunities available, with shifts scheduled days and nights, rotating from 07:30 to 19:45, 19:30 to 07:45 hours.
About this location/unit:
Our Emergency department at Royal Inland Hospital is a tertiary referral hospital with 18 beds, 2 trauma bays, a clinical decision area, streaming area, minor treatment area, and an ambulatory care area. We treat 75,000 patients per year, and our nursing staff work 12-hour shifts. We see a broad spectrum of patients in age and acuity, with a high volume of trauma cases due to our geographical location and outdoor activities. Our High Acuity Response Team works directly with the BC Ambulance Services to transport patients from lower acuity sites to our hospital.
