The Canadian Red Cross is seeking a skilled Healthcare Equipment Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Specialized Equipment Program, you will be responsible for the examination, rebuilding, repair, service, and maintenance of specialized healthcare equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough examination, rebuilding, repair, service, and maintenance of specialized healthcare equipment, including wheelchairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of loans, returns, inventory, statistics, and equipment repairs in accordance with program procedures and policies.
  • Manage inventory records, compile monthly statistics, and order new stock equipment as needed.
  • Generate loans for newly recycled equipment and update equipment descriptions in inventory.
  • Complete loan agreement data entry with support from supervisors and/or occupational therapists.
  • Support community health programs with cleaning and disinfecting tasks, as well as equipment maintenance.
  • Assist technical staff with various responsibilities within the workshop environment.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma and relevant mechanical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and trouble-shooting capabilities.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • Able to perform heavy lifting (50lbs to 100lbs).
  • Demonstrated experience in a work order shop environment, such as vehicle repair and maintenance.
  • Experience working with seniors, cognitively impaired, and physically disabled clients.
  • Computer skills in inventory control systems.
  • Previous WHIMIS and Occupational Health and Safety training.

Working Conditions:

  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment screening process, including a satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC).
