Senior Project Manager (PM II) Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to join our team at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing large-scale projects or components of major projects to ensure successful delivery of project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project plans, including project charters, scope statements, and project schedules.
  • Lead project teams and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery, including managing project risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with directors, project sponsors, managers, and staff to develop and implement project plans, including project charters, scope statements, and project schedules.
  • Manage project finances, including budget planning, tracking, and reporting.
  • Develop and implement effective processes to assess project risks, identify risk mitigation strategies, and monitor risk throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead process improvement and work redesign initiatives, utilizing persuasion and negotiation abilities to achieve consensus and resolve conflict.
  • Develop and implement a sustainment plan to ensure ongoing support for new programs.
  • Provide leadership, facilitation, coordination, and/or support as required to internal/external committees, planning groups, and operational/implementation groups.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and seven (7) to ten (10) years' recent, related experience in project management, including successfully managing significant large projects or initiatives.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
  • Ability to utilize initiative, vision, independent thinking, and creative problem-solving abilities to implement project plans and realize project completion.
  • Effective facilitation, persuasion, and negotiation skills to achieve consensus, resolve conflict, and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide coaching, supervision, leadership, and team development.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and influence senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with various stakeholders.
