Job Title: BAS/Plumber - Chemical Treatment

We are seeking a highly skilled BAS/Plumber - Chemical Treatment to join our team at the Simcoe County District School Board. This is a full-time permanent position that requires a strong background in plumbing, chemical treatment, and maintenance.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing emergency, preventive, and planned maintenance services to plant heating and cooling systems. This includes repairing mechanical pipe leaks, pumps, and associated equipment for heating and cooling systems. The candidate will also be responsible for the chemical treatment of closed loop heating systems, chilled water systems, and cooling towers, as well as associated equipment throughout the Simcoe County District School Board.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide emergency, preventive, and planned maintenance services to plant heating and cooling systems
  • Repair mechanical pipe leaks, pumps, and associated equipment for heating and cooling systems
  • Perform chemical treatment of closed loop heating systems, chilled water systems, and cooling towers, as well as associated equipment
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team to provide maintenance services
  • Collaborate with staff, students, and the general public to provide excellent customer service
Requirements:
  • Current Certificate of Qualification as a licensed Plumber/Steamfitter
  • Knowledge of the components and treatment of closed water system loops
  • Knowledge of the design and operation of open water treatment systems, including cooling towers, fluid coolers, and evaporative coolers
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Experience with troubleshooting, service, and repair of hydronic heating systems, HVAC, and refrigeration, plumbing, gas, and oil burners, as well as associated auxiliary equipment and controls
  • Computer literacy and ability to work effectively with a variety of computer software programs, such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Facility Services Computerized Maintenance Work order system
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working at Heights fall arrest safety training
  • Lock out tag out/Control of hazardous energy
  • Building Automation Systems
