Job Title: Senior Controls Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the controls effort for projects from start to finish, designing and documenting controls design, programming the control system, and commissioning the system at site until customer acceptance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Document Controls Scope: Design and document the controls scope for assigned projects, including architectural design of system, subsystem control, interface management, and producing design report sets for programming and implementation.
- Program and Test Controls System: Program and test documented algorithms according to coding standards, including implementation of existing libraries, creation of additional libraries, and custom coding on PLC and other platforms.
- Collaborate with Project Team: Collaborate with Project Engineers and other disciplines within a project to ensure complete project coverage and coordinated design and implementation.
- Manage Controls Design Effort: Manage the controls design effort for assigned projects, including managing project deliverables, design schedule, technical details, and interaction with other departments.
- Author Technical Specifications: Author technical specifications for controls applications and contribute to specifications for cross-functional applications.
- Lead Controls Startup: Lead the controls startup at site with guidance from Aiolos site staff, including communications checkout, equipment startup, controller tuning, debug, and troubleshooting, and interaction with other disciplines within the company and contractors outside the company.
- Create Standalone Applications: Create or modify standalone applications to support overall control system using high-level programming languages (C#).
Requirements:
- Education: B.A.Sc./B.Sc. (or higher) in Engineering.
- Experience: 4-6 years of Controls Engineering work experience.
- Self-Starter: Self-starter with the ability to manage own work and meet deadlines independently.
- On-Site Controls Startup Experience: On-site controls startup experience, including I/O checkout, communications checkout, equipment startup, loop tuning, etc.
- Good English Writing Skills: Good English writing skills.
- Experience in Instrumentation: Experience in instrumentation, including pressure transducers, RTDs, humidity sensors, etc.
- Experience with PLC Programming: Experience with PLC programming.
- Professional Engineer License: Professional Engineer license or eligible.
- Minimum Permanent Residency: Minimum permanent residency, citizenship preferred.
- Able to Travel Internationally: Able to travel internationally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with TIA Portal and/or Unity Pro/Control Expert: Experience with TIA Portal and/or Unity Pro/Control Expert.
- Experience with Communications Protocols: Experience with communications protocols, including Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP, AK, etc.
- Experience with C# Programming: Experience with C# programming, especially APIs.
- Experience with Motion Control: Experience with motion control.
- Experience with 3rd Party Measurement Systems: Experience with 3rd party measurement systems, including NI PXI, Scanivalve Pressure Scanners, etc.
- Safety Programming Experience: Safety programming experience, including Siemens, Schneider, PILZ.
- Knowledge of Process Design: Knowledge of process design.
- Canadian Citizen: Canadian citizen.
- Additional Languages: Additional languages an asset.
Salary: $95,000 per annum.
