Senior Underwriting Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriting Consultant to join our team at People Corporation. As a key member of our group benefits team, you will be responsible for providing expert underwriting services to our clients, ensuring their complex group benefits needs are met with tailored solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Market Expertise: Maintain a deep understanding of the group insurance markets, funding alternatives, networks, and benefit plan options to provide informed guidance to clients.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and execute pre- and post-renewal strategies, supporting the financial requirements of clients.
- Analytical Support: Provide ongoing analytical support, including financial reporting, utilization analysis, market benchmarking, and ad-hoc requests to help clients make informed decisions.
- Risk Management: Monitor and report on clients' cost/utilization patterns, identifying cost drivers, trends, areas of risk, and other outliers to mitigate potential risks.
- Renewal Management: Review and negotiate renewal rating proposals with carriers, completing the renewal cycle with thorough reporting and commentary.
- Business Development: Assist with the preparation of marketing specifications, review and prepare cost comparisons of carrier proposals to support business growth.
- Carrier Relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with carriers and vendors to ensure the sustainable collective benefit of our clients.
- Experience: Minimum 5 to 10 years of increasing responsibility in a related role, such as group benefits underwriting, group benefits consulting, and actuarial consulting.
- Education: Post-secondary education in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong working knowledge of group insurance products and plan designs, solid understanding of funding arrangements and pricing methodologies, analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Personal Qualities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to develop and leverage relationships, self-motivated, highly driven, team player, ability to work independently, prioritize time-sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment, effective attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy.
