Job Title: Regional Lineup Editor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Lineup Editor to join our team at CBC/Radio-Canada. As a key member of our newsroom, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality news content to our audience. Your expertise in news editing, writing, and broadcasting will be essential in creating engaging and informative content for our listeners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line up and read the radio news on weekdays
  • Vet radio copy
  • Do interviews, pull clips, and write copy for weekend newscasts
  • Present news headlines and updates in an interactive way on the morning current affairs radio show
  • Chase breaking news, when warranted
  • Assign radio and digital reporters
  • Vet digital copy
  • Be prepared to host a radio news special in the case of big breaking news
  • Pitch original story ideas and angles

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Five years' experience in journalism or equivalent
  • Extensive general knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of current events and news across the province
  • Connection to and understanding of Quebec's diverse and underrepresented communities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines, reacting quickly to changing priorities and breaking news
  • Deep desire to make the radio newscasts the best in the market
  • Strong vetting skills for radio and digital copy
  • Excellent reporting, interviewing, and writing skills
  • Engaging on-air presence, live broadcasting
  • Thorough knowledge of logistics of an integrated, mobile-first newsroom
  • Fluency in the working language (English)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the other official language (French)
  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada's Journalistic Standards and Practices
