Heavy Duty Equipment Service Operations Manager

Brandt is seeking a Service Manager for our London Construction & Forestry location.
The Service Manager will oversee the sales and delivery of heavy duty equipment after-market support services, including component diagnostics, repair, and replacement. This includes managing all aspects of the service department and day-to-day activity of foremen, leadmen, service writers, and shop, field, and resident heavy duty mechanics.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage service workflow and ensure standards, policies, and reporting practices are followed.
- Develop and manage the Service Department budget to meet financial and operational goals.
- Prepare quotes for customer work orders and open/close work orders.
- Inspect/operate customer equipment as part of resolving concerns/diagnostics.
- Monitor service revenue and expenses monthly.
- Ensure work is performed according to established safety and industry standards.
- Review employee performance against goals on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain a high-performance Service team through hiring, training, coaching, mentoring, and performance management in a safe environment.
Required Skills
- Effective communication with customers, employees, and branch personnel at all levels.
- Self-motivation in learning and applying new knowledge and skills, with a willingness to share knowledge with others.
- Ability to travel to customer worksites and operate or work on or around heavy equipment.
- Proficiency in using work-related desktop applications and web-based productivity applications.
- Confidence, critical thinking, knowledge, and technical skills to assess and solve customer, business, and personnel problems effectively and efficiently.
- A recent driver's abstract will be required.
Required Experience
- A strong commitment to occupational health and safety.
- 5-7 years' progressive experience in service, management, and business, including journeyperson heavy duty mechanic experience and 3 years' management/supervisory experience in the heavy duty equipment industry.
- A solid foundation of knowledge and skill in the operation of a heavy duty equipment dealership.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and achieve work-related objectives and goals.
- A strong customer service orientation and sound judgment when dealing with customers.
- Effective communication with customers, employees, and branch personnel at all levels.
- Self-motivation in learning and applying new knowledge and skills, with a willingness to share knowledge with others.
- Ability to travel to customer worksites and operate or work on or around heavy equipment.
