About the Role:

The successful candidate will assist roofers with various tasks such as loading and unloading construction materials, erecting scaffolding, and mixing and spreading materials like asphalt.

They will also help tradespeople install, repair or replace built-up roofing systems, single-ply roofing systems, and shingles, shakes, and other roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings.

The ideal candidate should have at least two years of experience as a Roofer or Roofer helper, with a solid understanding of Cladding installation being an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Loading and unloading construction materials
  • Erecting scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades required at construction sites
  • Mixing, pouring, heating, mopping, and spreading materials like asphalt
  • Helping tradespeople install, repair or replace built-up roofing systems, single-ply roofing systems, and shingles, shakes, and other roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings
  • Assisting heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment, and provide assistance in other activities
  • Removing rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other equipment, and keeping the site clean
  • Tending or feeding machines or equipment used in construction, such as asphalt mixers, compressors, and pumps
  • Cleaning up asphalt spills and other hazardous materials
  • Oiling and greasing hoists and similar equipment
  • DIRECTING TRAFFIC AT OR NEAR CONSTRUCTION SITES
  • Performing other activities at construction sites, as directed

Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience as a Roofer or Roofer helper
  • Solid understanding of Cladding installation is an asset
  • Ability to work independently on general assignments
  • Work safely and follow safety procedures
  • Mathematical background is an asset
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Able to operate equipment and machinery, and different tools
  • Able to work in all weather conditions
  • Able to lift at least 40-50 pounds
  • Able to stand, kneel, and bend for long hours
  • Able to be flexible and adaptable to site and working conditions
  • Good team player
  • Adheres to safety protocols
  • Ability to understand directions as per supervisor

Salary: $25-$27 per hour

Benefits:

  • Extended medical and dental after three months
  • RRSP matching up to $3k after two years
