Job Title: Heavy Equipment Maintenance Operations Lead

About the Role:

The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Operations Lead will oversee the day-to-day operations of a maintenance department, supervising a team responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of equipment. This position ensures all repairs and/or maintenance to equipment are performed in accordance with Company safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily planning and scheduling of all repair work to optimize productivity, following up on repairs being made, performing repairs as needed, and appraising performance of shop personnel.
  • Supervise, coach, train, evaluate employee performance or behavior; provide input into hiring, disciplinary action, terminations, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Conduct daily shop huddles to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
  • Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with the Company's safety and compliance procedures, follow up where appropriate.
  • Plan and schedule repairs in Hippo CMMS planner, procure all parts for a successful plan.
  • Analyze the quality and effectiveness of the work performed, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Assist with an inventory control system to ensure necessary equipment and part levels are maintained and purchases are within budget.
  • Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Manage related administrative matters for the team, including payroll, employee records, records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, recording of all information into Company maintenance software.
  • Maintain open communication with other departments and leadership to ensure fluid and effective operations.
  • Introduce departmental goals and performance objectives established by District and Corporate leadership.
  • Evaluate and maintain a clean and organized work environment through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Conduct periodic safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote morale, productivity, and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One (1) or more years of lead technician or supervisory experience.
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • Ability to supervise, coach, counsel, discipline, and train employees.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity, trust, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports and associated documents.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Flexibility to accept and adapt to change as well as the commitment to seek continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques.
  • Knowledge of welding, compactor repair.
  • Work utilizing personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety-toed boot, gloves, reflective vest, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, etc.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience.
