Waferizer Operator

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Waferizer Operator to oversee the production of wood wafers by processing logs through Waferizer and Debarker at Louisiana-Pacific Corporation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate equipment controls to regulate the speed of logs on the conveyor, cut logs, and transfer wafers to designated bins.
- Coordinate the process with the Dryer Operator and Crane Operator to ensure efficient production.
- Assist in changing knives as needed to maintain optimal production levels.
- Identify and troubleshoot control panel and operational problems to minimize downtime.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment by blowing down the waferizer area regularly.
- Correct log jams and remove bark from belts to maintain smooth production.
- Monitor wafers going to wet bins and remove oversized wafers to meet quality standards.
- Maintain 100% compliance with Environmental, Housekeeping standards, and policies for the area.
- Train other designated individuals safely and efficiently in the operation of Waferizers.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on Waferizers, Debarkers, and Bark Systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct Strand Geometry analysis and prepare reports to monitor production process.
- Understand knife projections and knife angle to reduce variation and produce proper flake.
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
- Complete control plans and operational check sheets to monitor production process.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Crane operating experience
- Good attendance and job performance record
- Excellent manual dexterity, visual acuity, and depth perception, eye/hand coordination
- Ability to read, understand, and follow safety rules and regulations
Work Environment:
- Mill environment subject to weather extremes
Pay Scale:
$23.28 - $24.77
