Job Description: Accountant I, Accounts Receivable

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Business Accountant I to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing day-to-day accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, data entry, and payment processing.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze customer invoices and statements to ensure accuracy and apply adjustments as needed;
  2. Assist in process improvement and workflow streamlining projects;
  3. Participate in month-end activities, including Retail invoicing and Supplier chargeback invoicing;
  4. Collaborate with event and shared services teams on venue settlement items;
  5. Collect payment information from Event Business Management Software (EBMS) to facilitate event settlement;
  6. Monitor bank accounts daily and record payments made by wire transfer or cheque;
  7. Prepare monthly bank statement reconciliations;
  8. Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies;
  9. Review revenue charges according to sales contracts and licensing agreements;
  10. Prepare client invoices and deposits for transactions/events with accuracy and within established time frames;
  11. Maintain contact with clients, stakeholder teams, and internal departments regarding overdue deposits and invoice payments;
  12. Work closely with other departments to ensure proper accounting and internal controls are maintained;
  13. Maintain detailed records and documentation of AR and event accounting functions for audit purposes;
  14. Assist with managing accounts receivable aging and ad-hoc accounting duties;
  15. Respond to internal and external inquiries while maintaining a professional manner;
  16. Provide backup support for the Accounts Payable and other finance teams as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of work experience in Accounting, preferably in Accounts Receivables or convention/hotel industry;
  • Minimum Diploma in Accounting;
  • Working towards CPA designation is an asset;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Outlook);
  • Experience with centralized financial software programs or ability to learn new systems quickly;
  • Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proven track record of successfully conceptualizing, managing, and completing business improvement projects;
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and handle multiple tasks and functions at a time;
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively in a time-sensitive environment;
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure;
  • Driven by service excellence.
About This Opportunity

We offer a competitive salary range of $45,683 - $68,524 per year, depending on your experience and qualifications. In addition to your annual salary, you will also receive excellent benefits and a strong government pension plan.
