Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical tasks related to medical laboratory procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform technical tasks related to medical laboratory procedures, including testing, analysis, and quality control.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, and other specialized instruments.
  • Conduct quality control checks on laboratory results and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest laboratory techniques and technologies.
Requirements
  • Secondary school diploma required.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience or equivalent skill.
  • Good knowledge of medical laboratory theory and practice, current trends, and regulations.
  • Manual dexterity, good vision and hearing, acuity, attention to detail.
  • Capability to adapt to a constantly evolving technology.
  • Sense of accountability, analytical, and good judgment.
  • Excellent critical thinking, synthesis, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Language
  • Fluent in English.
  • Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
