About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Permits and Approvals Manager to join our team at Webuild. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitating the construction process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the construction application approval process, issuance of permits, plans submittals, plan processing, and fee assessment and payment processing
  • Ensure timely processing of plans, permits, licenses, agreements and applications; manage and coordinate the routing and tracking of plans to various departments and outside agencies for required reviews and clearances
  • Provide the necessary documentation to enable on-schedule construction
  • Research, co-ordinate, and apply for construction permits as per established processes to ensure timely issuance of permits meeting strict construction start deadlines.
  • Maintain and update the project's permits matrix
  • Ensure that permits, licenses, approvals and agreements are in place to perform the scope of work assigned
  • Ensure that external Stakeholders, the Municipality and environmental authorities are engaged when appropriate to obtain feedback as necessary
  • Coordinate internal and external regulatory approval processes
  • Manage relationships with Stakeholders, including Governmental Authorities
  • Lead the coordination and the scheduling of meetings with Stakeholders, as needed
Requirements
  • Completion of a degree in Urban Planning, Engineering, Environmental Studies or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Minimum six (6) years related experience within a municipal planning, building, construction and/or engineering environment. Knowledge of permits, licenses and approval requirements for transit infrastructure projects is essential.
  • Experience with projects delivered by means of public/private sector partnerships would be highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of public sector decision-making structures and processes at the municipal, regional, provincial and federal level.
  • Experience with Project Management methods, tools and best practices.
  • Negotiation, tact, diplomacy and political acuity to develop and recommend project plans, manage multistakeholder projects/initiatives, and make recommendations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, collaboration and oral/ written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of project management software, Excel, and computer applications is considered an asset.
Preferred Skills

Involvement in at least one LRT related project
