Instrumentation Maintenance Technician

At Plains, we are seeking a skilled Instrumentation Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Windsor, Ontario, storage facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical and instrumentation maintenance and reliability activities, including installing, calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting electrical equipment and instrumentation. Additionally, they will assist in the facility's efficient operation and execute their responsibilities in accordance with company standards, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment and instrumentation, including PLCs, meters, analyzers, motor control centers, motors, switchgear, and other equipment.
- Understand Canadian Electrical Code requirements and ensure compliance.
- Inspect and test the operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using electrical and electronic devices.
- Consult manufacturer's manuals, circuit diagrams, and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures.
- Identify opportunities for optimization and improvement and communicate them to the team.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance for all electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Document work in progress and completed work through written and electronic records.
- Provide on-call support during non-business hours for emergency response and maintenance break-ins.
- Provide technical input and scope development for operations, projects, and turnarounds.
Requirements:
- Certified Interprovincial Instrumentation and Control Technician or Electrical Technician (309A license); Master Electrician License or dual ticketed (or apprenticed) preferred.
- Candidates with 5-10 years' prior gas plant, refinery, pipeline, or oilfield experience are preferred.
- PLC programming experience preferred; familiarity with Schneider Electric PLCs and Ignition DCSs an asset.
- Computer skills with knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (Maximo preferred), MS Word / Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and optimization skills.
- Self-motivated and energetic with effective written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with a variety of individuals in a busy field environment.
- Strong focus on safety and accountability for safety performance.
- Valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
- Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
- Compliance with the Company's drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
