Home Health Care Support Professional

At the High River General Hospital Long Term Care facility, we are seeking a compassionate and skilled Health Care Aide to join our team. As a valued member of our care team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality resident-centered care to our elderly residents.
Job Description
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary team to provide personal assistance, including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. This may involve assisting with routine care tasks, such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety needs. Additionally, you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care, assisting nurses with patient care plans and maintaining effective communication with healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
- Support patients with mobility and transfers.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Collaborate with nurses to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on patient progress and well-being.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a Health Care Aide Certificate within 18 months of hire and be registered on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have completed at least 100 hours of practicum may also be eligible. Previous long-term care experience is preferred, as is completion of supportive pathways or equivalent dementia care education. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a care team are essential. An estimated salary range of $65,000 - $80,000 per year reflects the value we place on our team members' skills and expertise.
