Job Summary

Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director to join its Group Risk Management Market and Counterparty Credit Risk team. The successful candidate will work closely with Enterprise and local stakeholders to develop infrastructure that enables prudent risk management and ensures compliance with heightened standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent oversight of market risk arising from CNB businesses and operations.
  • Work in partnership with various stakeholders to enhance governance and processes at CNB.
  • Participate in the GRM 2nd Line of Defense review and challenges.
  • Assist in monitoring and reviewing risk thresholds/limits and ensuring they are comprehensive and include all relevant risk factors.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise GRM teams to foster synergy and share best practices.
  • Assist in daily monitoring of limits and provide accurate and timely communication of material and emerging risks to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as directed by reporting manager.
  • Support the team in ensuring CNB is compliant with heightened standards.
  • Participate in facilitating the local alignment and/or adoption of RBC frameworks, policies, and standing orders.
  • Assist with coordination between different stakeholders to facilitate projects-related tasks.
  • Look for opportunities to improve and standardize processes within the GRM CNB team.
  • Assist in preparing presentations/materials to be used in presentations and/or updates to senior executives, committees, or stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or a quantitative field.
  • 3+ years of experience with exposure to market risk in a large financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of market risk management.
  • Understanding of markets and products, including Derivatives and Securities.
  • Experience in managing and coordinating projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
