About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Food Procurement Specialist to join our team at Diana Distribution Center Ltd. as a Purchasing Agent. This is a permanent position that requires a strong understanding of the wholesale food industry and excellent negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a consistent and high-quality supply of merchandise.
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet the requirements of our wholesale establishment.
  • Negotiate prices, discounts, and credit terms with suppliers to optimize our purchasing power.
  • Review inventory levels and determine the quantity and type of merchandise to purchase.
  • Select and purchase merchandise for resale, ensuring that it meets our quality and safety standards.
  • Supervise the work of other buyers and provide guidance and support as needed.
Requirements
  • College or CEGEP education.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Word.
Work Environment

This is a permanent position that requires a minimum of 30-40 hours of work per week. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and suppliers.

Language

The primary language of work is English.
