Library Technician Position

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, organize, and maintain a collection of diverse library materials
- Locate resource information for students, teachers, and parents
- Deliver library services such as adding copies, bar coding, spine labeling, stamping, jacketing, reinforcing, circulation, shelving, filing, repairing, weeding, tracking inter-library loan transactions, maintaining periodicals, prepare displays, maintain inventory, set up and demonstrate proper use of equipment
- Demonstrate proper use of resources
- Support teachers' instructional programs
- Participate in Board-initiated professional development and organizational meetings
Requirements:
- Library Technician Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent
- Three months experience with the Dewey Decimal Classification System, and cataloguing procedures according to AACR2 and SEARS Subject Headings, MARC records, standard library cataloging basics
- Computer and audio-visual equipment knowledge and experience
- Good interpersonal and artistic skills to promote library
- Knowledge of the current automation system
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, to organize time efficiently, and to work well with a variety of people
Work Environment: Must be able to travel to all locations within the Niagara Catholic District School Board jurisdiction.
