Flynn Canada Ltd. is seeking a skilled Roofing Specialist to join our team. As a Roofing Specialist, you will be responsible for installing and repairing various types of roofing systems, including built-up roofing systems, single-ply roofing systems, and metal roofs. You will also instruct apprentices and work in a fast-paced environment with physically demanding tasks.

Work Site Environment

You will work at heights, in noisy conditions, and outdoors. You will be required to handle heavy loads and work under pressure.

Work Setting

You will work in various locations, including commercial and industrial settings. You will be required to travel to different sites and work in a variety of weather conditions.

Tasks

Your tasks will include:

  • Installing built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel
  • Installing or replacing asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes, and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings
  • Installing single-ply roofing systems using waterproof sheet materials, such as modified plastics, elastomeric, or other asphaltic compositions
  • Instructing apprentices
  • Installing and repairing metal roofs using hand and power tools

No certificates, licenses, memberships, or courses are required for this position.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

You will work in a fast-paced environment with physically demanding tasks. You will be required to bend, crouch, kneel, and handle heavy loads. You will also work under pressure and be required to work overtime.

Weight Handling

You will be required to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs).

Personal Suitability

We are looking for a dependable, team player with excellent oral and written communication skills. You will be required to work independently and as part of a team.

As per collective agreement, you will receive a competitive salary and benefits package. You will also have the opportunity to work on a permanent basis with a guaranteed 30-40 hours of work per week.
