About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team at Roche. As a key member of our software engineering team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and testing software features and product infrastructure, primarily from a backend perspective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable server-side applications using cloud technology, such as AWS and Serverless computing.
  • Write clean, maintainable code and documentation using engineering best practices.
  • Develop and maintain backend APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Research and implement new tools, technologies, and test processes for software development.
  • Collaborate with management to set priorities and work effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in hands-on software development or a related field.
  • Experience building software products using Java, Spring, and REST APIs.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Postgres and MySQL.
  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies and become productive quickly.
  • Experience with Agile/Lean practices and scalable architecture.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with developing cloud solutions using AWS.
  • Experience in the life sciences or medical devices fields, or bioinformatics experience.
  • Experience developing regulated products under design control.
