Job Summary:
The Government of the Northwest Territories is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Traditional Counselor. As a key member of our corrections and community justice team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the ongoing provision and enforcement of policy and services within our corrections mission, vision, and value statement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling services to individuals within our corrections facilities, with a focus on community justice and rehabilitation.
- Work closely with community members, organizations, and government agencies to develop and implement culturally sensitive programs and services.
- Collaborate with facility teams to ensure the effective delivery of policy and services, and to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community members, organizations, and government agencies to promote community justice and rehabilitation.
- Provide training and support to facility staff on cultural awareness and sensitivity.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary certificate in social sciences or a related field.
- One year of progressively more responsible experience in a counseling field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Class 4 Driver's License.
- Strong awareness of cultural diversity, specifically northern Aboriginal traditions and values.
