**Job Description**The Fire Safety Officer will support the HSSEQ department in a field inspection and office capacity. This role will be based in Ottawa, ON.
- Assess and Audit field operations against TransitNEXT policy, systems, and legislation.
- Provide Safety Orientation sessions.
- Compile statistical information for the HSSEQ department.
- Enter information into Atkins Realis systems and update all databases.
- Lead the management of injured workers and the return-to-work process.
- Carrying out compliance auditing of contractors.
- Implementing, maintaining, and ensuring the effective operation of the M&R Safety Management Plan.
- Ensuring that OHS Audits are implemented as planned and as required by the Project Agreement.
- Ensuring actions are taken to address any non-conforming issues or improvements identified through OHS audits or inspections.
- Maintain the system developed and implemented to verify where specific personnel certifications are required to meet regulatory requirements and that these certifications are in place and valid.
- Ensure safe work procedures are developed and implemented as required to protect personnel from hazards created by M&R activities.
- Lead regular safety meetings held at various levels of the M&R organization.
Experience in a similar role within a project of similar size is preferred. A valid and unrestricted G / Class 5 Drivers License is required.
A reliable transportation arrangement is expected, as no vehicle is provided for this job.
