Job Summary
We are currently seeking a relief part-time Critical Care Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit at Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre in Abbotsford, BC. As a critical care nurse, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care to critically ill patients, collaborating with the interprofessional care team, and making decisions that impact patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients and collect information from various sources using skills of observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment
- Makes nursing diagnoses and determines whether conditions can be improved or resolved by appropriate nursing interventions
- Plans, performs, and evaluates nursing interventions and care
- Collaborates with patients and their families/caregivers in developing care plans and encourages family participation in the development, implementation, and ongoing modification of care plans
- Establishes therapeutic relationships by demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect, advocating for patients' rights to privacy, dignity, and access to information, and ensuring patients' choice and autonomy in decision-making and care planning
- Coordinates nursing care for patients; sets priorities, assigns and delegates tasks to support staff, and makes referrals to the interprofessional care team according to established protocols and practice standards
- Collaborates with members of the interprofessional care team, including physicians, licensed practical nurses, patient care coordinators, clinical nurse educators, and other healthcare professionals/providers in identifying and resolving issues, adjusting care plans as required, and regarding changes in patient condition
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Completion of applicable postgraduate coursework or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
About the Role
This is a relief part-time opportunity, working approximately 0 hours per week. The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42 - $59.52 / hour, based on a 37.5 hour workweek.
