Chief Cyber Defense Officer

Cannara Biotech (Québec) inc is seeking a highly skilled Chief Cyber Defense Officer to join our IT team. This role requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices to ensure the security of all components, manage backups, and develop a comprehensive cyber defense program.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Developing and managing a cyber threat intelligence program to collect and analyze threat data from internal and external sources;
• Maintaining backups and periodically testing recovery procedures;
• Assisting the IT team with daily administration tasks, including user management, network infrastructure, and tech support;
• Validating patch management across Windows AD, firewalls, and virtual networks;
• Identifying new threats and vulnerabilities, anticipating potential attacks, and creating defensive strategies;
• Working collaboratively with other members of the IT team to respond to security incidents and minimize damage;
• Performing post-incident analysis to identify root causes and implement preventive measures;
• Managing and optimizing the security information and event management system;
• Designing and implementing a comprehensive threat and vulnerability management program to identify, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities in our IT infrastructure;
• Managing vulnerability scanning activity using multiple tools covering network infrastructure and operating systems.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a relevant field;
• At least 3 years of experience in the field of cyber defense or security administration;
• In-depth experience with incident response methodologies and frameworks;
• Experience with automation techniques;
• A good understanding of threat intelligence principles and practices;
• Highly developed skills in cloud security principles (AWS);
• Bilingualism (French and English), with the ability to interact with colleagues across the country;
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are desired;
• Ability to work from Montreal, Farnham, and/or Valleyfield facilities.
