Job Summary

Gill Welding And Trailer Repair Ltd. is seeking a skilled Welder Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for assisting our welders and metal fabricators in the production of high-quality steel products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport raw materials, finished products, and equipment throughout the plant manually.
  • Assist structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, metal machine operators, or other metal workers.
  • Sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal, and other materials.
  • Grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools.
  • Clean machines and immediate work areas.
  • Load and unload vehicles.
  • Polish metal products to a mirror finish.
  • Read and interpret work orders.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment.
Work Environment

As a Welder Assistant, you will work in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods, and handling heavy loads. You will be part of a team that values diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility.

Requirements
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
