Job Title: ATIP Consultant

Renaud Consulting IM/IT Solutions is seeking a highly skilled ATIP Consultant to join our team. As an ATIP Consultant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information within the RCMP.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze access to information requests to ensure compliance with the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.
  • Apply the rules and regulations set out in the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act to determine the statutory right of requesters to access federal information while protecting the privacy of individuals.
  • Analyze complex and sensitive cases, including those involving consultation and resolution of issues with requesters, third parties, other federal institutions, and international, provincial, or municipal governments.
  • Identify and support decisions on duplicate and non-relevant records.
  • Assimilate and synthesize information from various sources to formulate a reasoned RCMP position in support of exemption and exclusion provisions of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.
  • Develop recommendations and rationales on the interpretation of the ATIP legislation relating to highly sensitive cases for the Branch.
  • Prepare proposed disclosure packages for review by the delegated manager.
  • Update the RCMP APCM system for all actions taken on files.
  • Provide advice to RCMP staff, stakeholders, and requesters on the interpretation and application of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act and related instruments.
  • Conduct research and analysis in the preparation of ATIP-related correspondence.
  • Lead consultations with other government agencies and third parties concerning perceived risks associated with the release of information found in RCMP files.
  • Write memoranda and correspondence pertaining to the processing of Access to Information Act and Privacy Act requests.
Qualifications:
  • Must demonstrate 10 years of experience in reviewing access to information requests and files at the Canadian Federal Government level and Provincial Affairs.
  • Must demonstrate experience in providing recommendations to ATIP Coordinators.
  • Must demonstrate experience in addressing complaints from the Offices of the Information Commissioner and Privacy Commissioner and defending exemptions applied under the Acts which resulted in successful resolution.
  • Must demonstrate experience using an ATIP Case Management System (APCM) in the Canadian Federal Government.
