Substance Use Services Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Use Services Nurse Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide comprehensive nursing care to clients experiencing problematic substance use, including assessment, referrals, counseling, and follow-up as required.
- Collaborate with interprofessional teams to develop and implement person-centered care plans that address the physical, emotional, and social needs of clients.
- Deliver crisis intervention and stabilization services to clients in crisis, including administering medications and monitoring withdrawal symptoms.
- Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records, including electronic health information and progress notes.
- Degree in Nursing from an approved program, with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- At least one year of recent experience working in an addictions environment with individuals with substance use disorders, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment, psychopharmacology, and counseling and group facilitation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team.
