Environmental Specialist (Education and Awareness)

The Administration régionale Kativik (ARK) is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Environmental Specialist (Education and Awareness).

About the Role

This position is part of the Kativik Regional Government's (KRG) supramunicipal organization, which has jurisdiction over the territory north of the 55th parallel. As an Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing education and awareness programs to promote environmental sustainability and conservation in the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver educational programs for various audiences, including community groups, schools, and government agencies
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local organizations and stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and conservation
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify environmental issues and develop strategies for mitigation and prevention
  • Collaborate with KRG departments to integrate environmental considerations into policy and decision-making processes
  • Develop and implement public awareness campaigns to promote environmental sustainability and conservation
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education and awareness programs
  • Provide technical assistance and support to community groups and organizations on environmental issues
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and emerging trends in environmental education and awareness
  • Contribute to the development of environmental policies and guidelines
  • Participate in regional and national forums to promote environmental sustainability and conservation
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in environmental science, education, or a related field
  • Proven experience in environmental education and awareness, preferably in a government or non-profit setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications
  • Fluency in English and French (written and spoken)
  • Valid driver's license
