About the Role

Zekelman Industries is a leading manufacturer of superior quality tubular and related products, providing outstanding service for valued customers. We seek a seasoned Senior Process Engineer to join our team and lead the effort to support and optimize automated systems within our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop appropriate controls and standard operating procedures supporting automated systems.
  • Learn and document Zekelman's warehouse management system, becoming a subject matter expert and understanding integration points with packaging, manufacturing execution systems, and transportation management systems.
  • Train support onsite super users regarding appropriate troubleshooting steps required to identify and resolve issues with the automated systems.
  • Develop and lead a team of automation specialists responsible for the documentation, maintenance, monitoring, and support of automated warehouse management systems.
  • Develop appropriate monitoring and management dashboards to facilitate the proactive identification of potential issues.
  • Coordinate and document integration points, issues, and knowledge between multiple internal and external vendors during implementation and on-going support of automation projects.
  • Communicate with employees to gain feedback on performance and functionality of automated systems.
  • Collaborate with Information Security team to ensure automated environments adhere to approved OT security, disaster recovery, and business continuity best practices and frameworks.
  • Coordinate necessary change approval and testing efforts on automated systems.
  • Coordinate with enterprise leaders and automation engineers to identify and consult on data-driven optimization strategies.

Requirements:

  • Progressive experience in a technical / automation / ICS / MES / process role.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • Motivated, independent worker, capable of innovation with little supervision.
  • Experience in process design, and project management, including process troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Advanced understanding in the design, application, and maintenance of multi-sourced automated management systems and related instrumentation.
  • Prior experience with PLC & HMI programming, SCADA Systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems, Software Integration, Industrial Control Systems, Warehouse Management Systems, Ladder Logic, preferred.
  • Ability to lead improvement and commissioning of new and existing equipment. Test the automation of manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to assist in installing, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and software, on new and/or used equipment used in automated manufacturing systems.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to connect the organization's goals and objectives with automation policies and plans.
  • On-call availability per schedule or as needed.
  • 50+% travel required.
