**About the Role:**

The University of Guelph is seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic Millwright to join its facilities team. As a key member of our maintenance and energy services team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment and systems on campus.

Job Summary:

This is a regular full-time position working 35 hours per week. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as experience working on related equipment.

About the Job Description:

  • Removing, repairing and rebuilding various types of pumps and fans;
  • Installing and aligning new equipment using appropriate tools and technology;
  • Troubleshooting systems and equipment, and making recommendations to the supervisor on the best approach for repairing or replacing existing equipment;
  • Repairing and maintaining a variety of specialized equipment such as hydraulic lifts, various research and animal handling equipment;
  • Repairing larger equipment on site, with assistance if needed;
  • Rigging and hoisting equipment;
  • Assisting contractors with large and/or specialized repairs;
  • Working with the department's vibration analysis instrument and its associated software;
  • Filling out appropriate paperwork (e.g. related to equipment upkeep, work orders, time cards, etc.);
  • Maintaining a clean workshop and job site and assisting other trades working in the same area or on the same job when appropriate;

About the Requirements:

  • A Grade 12 diploma together with an Industrial Mechanic Millwright license (433A), and 7280 hours of apprenticeship experience as part of the Industrial Mechanic Millwright trade certificate and three years of relevant experience working on related equipment;
  • An excellent work ethic;
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Effectiveness working both individually and as a member of a team;
  • Commitment to safe work practices;

About the Work Environment:

The Facilities Millwright may be required at times to work different shifts as needed, with appropriate notice.

About the Benefits:

Salary: $38.90 per hour; Employee Type: Regular; Position Number: 10820047; Classification: CUPE Band 7.
