Job Summary
The Driver Examiner is a key role within Southland Transportation's Safety and Training Department, responsible for evaluating the skills of new and current drivers. This position requires strong communication skills, tact, and diplomacy, particularly when dealing with confidential matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough Class 2S road tests in Calgary and Southern Alberta
- Evaluate drivers' skills through various assessments throughout the year
- Participate in ride-alongs with new drivers to assess their abilities
Requirements
- Class 2S license preferred, with training available for obtaining a class 2S license
- Current driver examiner license or willingness to obtain one
- Strong computer and tablet skills essential for success
- Knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act and emergency procedures
- Clear 10-year commercial driver's abstract and clear criminal record
- Maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team environment
Working Conditions
Typical working hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with additional hours based on operational needs. A company vehicle is available for work outside of Calgary.
