Staff Accountant

At London Drugs Limited, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Accounting Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting duties related to month-end closing, managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing financial statements, and assisting with year-end audits.
Key Responsibilities:- Liaise with accounts payable and accounts receivable to ensure timely and accurate recording and reporting of transactions.
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, journal entry postings, and accruals leading to the preparation of financial statements.
- Reconcile and post monthly statements for multiple properties from the property manager.
- Prepare and file monthly GST returns for multiple entities.
- Provide variance analysis for operating and capital expenditures.
- Manage and reconcile intercompany interest and transactions to ensure timely and accurate recording and reporting.
- Prepare working papers, reconciliations, and schedules for year-end audits to ensure deliverables are completed in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper accounting treatment and reporting of transactions, including review of outstanding related party balances.
- Continuously review and improve accounting processes and procedures to ensure compliance with ASPE/IFRS and company policies.
- Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff as needed.
- Assist with other entities within the group as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance.
- CPA designation or in final stages of completion.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting in a large organization, including managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing financial statements, and preparing working papers, reconciliations, and schedules for year-end audits.
- Strong understanding of ASPE/IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with investment and intercompany transactions, loan amortization, and month-end closing procedures.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (PeopleSoft, D365, Yardi).
