Job SummaryWe are seeking a compassionate and skilled Peer Support Specialist to join our Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic team in Kitchener. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will work closely with participants to provide emotional support, guidance, and advocacy as they navigate their recovery journey.
Main Responsibilities- Greet and welcome participants, building rapport and creating a comfortable atmosphere while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Provide frontline de-escalation and conflict resolution to support individuals experiencing challenges related to mental health and addiction.
- Share personal experiences with addiction and recovery in a common area on an ongoing basis.
- Manage individual caseloads, providing individual and system-navigation support, including actively supporting participants with entering other programs.
- Act as a role model for self-care and self-awareness.
- Sensitivity to and knowledge of issues relating to all genders and marginalized populations.
- Strong understanding of interpersonal skills and ability to engage in meaningful conversations to develop rapport with individuals who use substances using a strength-based approach.
- Demonstrated capacity for accurate and efficient documentation and computer data entry.
- Ability to calmly problem-solve in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- A competitive salary range of $22.18 - $28.61 per hour, based on experience.
