We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatic Centre Lifeguard to join our team at the University of Ottawa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of all aquatic centre users by performing surveillance and enforcing health regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform rescues and first aid as necessary to preserve life in a team setting.
- Teach aquatic instructional programs outlined in the Sports Services curriculum.
- Complete administrative and support tasks, including pool tests, attendance, incident reports, instructor report cards, facility maintenance tasks, and duties assigned by supervisor.
- Work flexible hours, including morning, day, night, and weekend shifts.
Requirements:
- Age: Minimum 16 years old.
- Current Aquatic Certifications: Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard: Pool Option.
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED from WSIB approved provider Lifesaving Society Airway Management or equivalent oxygen therapy certification.
- Aquatic Instructor Certification (Lifesaving Instructor preferred).
- Advanced aquatic qualifications considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of aquatic and sport environments.
- Past experience working in an aquatic setting.
- Ability to handle emergency situations.
- Excellent public relations and customer service skills.
- Experience with computer systems and software.
- Responsible, organized, and excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bilingualism (French and English) considered an asset.
What We Offer:
- Part-time work (up to 24 hours/week) available.
- Hourly rate: $16.84.
