About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Environmental Services Attendant to join our team at Markham Stouffville Hospital. As an Environmental Services Attendant, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform established housekeeping functions within assigned areas to provide and maintain a clean, infection-free, and attractive environment.
  • Rotate through room and washroom cleaning, operating room, floor maintenance, discharges, terminal cleaning, and project cleaning.
  • Respond to contingency codes as required.
  • Work in potentially infectious areas.
  • Collect and handle waste, linen, recycling, and biohazardous waste, radioactive waste as required.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in environmental services, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Good communication skills (reading, writing, and verbal) as well as interpersonal, organizational, and prioritizing skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Evidence of ability to work well independently and as a member of the team.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Well-developed customer service focus with the demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the team.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and other relevant legislation.
  • Understanding of infection control practices.
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital-related policies, health and safety legislation, and best practices.
Work Schedule

The successful candidate must be flexible to cover any shift and assignment as required, including weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts are currently as follows:

  • Nights: [insert hours]
  • Days: [insert hours]
  • Evenings: [insert hours]

Please note that shifts are subject to change based on the operational needs of the department.

Compensation

BAND CU01: Hourly $23.59-$25.73 per hour
