About the Role

The Senior Manager Business Analysis will lead the development of business solutions that align with the bank's strategies and policies. This role will interface with all levels of the business to understand current processes and identify opportunities for improvement.

The incumbent will work to continually acquire and enhance knowledge of the Division's business strategies and policies, risk management practices and methodologies, product offerings, financial markets, financial instruments, regulatory requirements, Back Office processes, and rapidly changing technology to be able to provide effective business solutions and services to the end user business lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement business solutions that meet the needs of the business and align with the bank's strategies and policies.
  • Interface with all levels of the business to understand current processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with IT clients to gather requirements, map business processes, and facilitate business and IT collaborations.
  • Responsible for the successful implementation of specific business line solutions for projects, supporting highly complex business applications with complex integration needs across multiple technology disciplines.
  • Independently resolves highly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet business needs by applying advanced financial and technical knowledge to the design of methodologies, models, and/or system solutions.
  • Participates in all phases of the IT System Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Acts as a liaison between developers and business team members. Provides timely project status updates to the Project Manager; identifying/reporting project risks as early as possible and proactively mitigating project risks as identified.
  • Collaborates as the business lead with multiple technology groups and vendors to ensure that the application, integrations, infrastructure, and security architectures are designed to meet evolving business requirements, meet standards for reliability, scalability, performance, and availability, and align with Scotia IT&S Technology roadmap.
  • Responsibilities may include effectively recruiting, managing, and supervising business analysis/systems specialist staff by setting performance expectations, monitoring performance, providing performance feedback, including the preparation of performance appraisals, and as needed, providing counsel and coaching.

Requirements

  • The incumbent must hold a relevant and recognized degree and/or proven IT experience with an emphasis on highly complex systems/business initiatives. CBAP designation preferred.
  • The incumbent must have 10 to 15 years of IT and business industry work experience, which includes at least 3 years of experience in managing teams or projects. Typically requires advanced technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines, technologies, and processes.
  • The incumbent must have expertise in very complex business and technical processes and their implications across the enterprise.
  • The incumbent must have expertise in project management disciplines/protocols.
  • Thorough knowledge of Bank processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of Bank's major/key business units.
  • Working knowledge of Bank accounting and budgetary process.
