Executive Director Position

The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial leader to serve as the Executive Director. This is a unique opportunity to join a vibrant arts organization and contribute to the cultural development of the City of Burlington.
The Executive Director will be responsible for leading the Centre's operations, financial management, programming, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in arts management, a minimum of seven years of experience in leading performing arts venues, and a university degree in arts and/or business management or equivalent experience.
The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and community partners to develop and implement strategies that promote the Centre's mission and goals. This includes building relationships with artists, arts organizations, and community groups, as well as securing funding and resources to support the Centre's programs and services.
The Centre:The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is a 63,000 sq. foot facility located in the heart of downtown Burlington. The Centre is a LEED-certified, Ontario's first stand-alone green performing arts venue, and is managed by a separate charitable not-for-profit organization with an independent board of directors.
The Centre has a pivotal role in the cultural, educational, and economic enrichment of the City of Burlington. The Executive Director must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, the Board of Directors, the media, artists, artist managers, other arts groups, sponsors, educational institutions, volunteers, and the audience.
Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have excellent financial and organizational skills, with demonstrated leadership in human resources management, community partnerships, board relations, and fund-raising. A good knowledge of programming, producing, and festival management would be essential. Other necessary characteristics would include political savvy and diplomacy, good oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of ancillary businesses such as catering, ticketing, corporate rentals, and the like.
