Automation Engineer

Are you a seasoned automation professional looking for a new challenge? We're seeking an experienced automation engineer to join our team at Randstad Canada. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, programming, testing, and commissioning advanced control systems for industrial machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Document customer requirements through face-to-face meetings or technical documents, collaborate with internal teams to review requirements and project details.
  2. Lead hardware/software design using established standards and resources as required.
  3. Effectively communicate project status to customers and management.
  4. Coach team members in commissioning and testing of all systems defined under scope of work.
  5. Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot issues with contractors and/or customers to ensure proper operation.
  6. Provide project-specific training for machine operators as required.
  7. Assist in development of system operation manuals and training material based on project deliverables.
  8. Provide coaching and mentoring to junior resources and share experience and knowledge in a collaborative environment.
  9. Ensure all documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately upon project completion.
  10. Track "lessons learned" on projects and share information with the engineering and sales teams.
Requirements
  1. BS Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent preferred).
  2. 5-8 years direct hands-on work experience designing, programming, testing, and commissioning advanced control systems mainly in industrial machinery or related industries.
  3. Possesses advanced knowledge and thorough understanding in the areas of control system integration, application programming, and system design.
  4. Background in electrical and instrumentation wiring and troubleshooting.
  5. Knowledge of the applicable Ontario or Canadian Electrical Codes.
