Job Description:

\

The Rail Safety Directorate at Transport Canada is seeking highly skilled professionals to fill the role of Safety Management Systems Inspectors and Auditing Specialists, Rail Safety. These individuals will be responsible for conducting oversight on railways through audits of their safety management systems and collaborating with railway stakeholders to promote compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

\
  • Conducting audits on railway safety management systems\
  • Participating in the design, development, and implementation of regional railway safety management system regulatory compliance programs\
  • Providing technical advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders\
  • Analyzing safety data in support of the Rail Safety Program\
  • Developing strategies to monitor the adoption of safety management system approaches by the rail industry\
  • Performing occasional travel locally, regionally, and nationally to conduct auditing activities
\

Required Skills and Qualifications:

\

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess significant experience in conducting inspections or auditing management systems, as well as preparing detailed written reports on findings or non-compliances. Additionally, they should have experience in data analysis and be able to provide subject matter expert advice on audit methodologies, standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.
