Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Pediatric Clinic Nurse Coordinator at Southlake Regional Health Centre. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the operations of the pediatric outpatient clinic, working collaboratively with pediatricians and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the flow of patients through the outpatient clinic by triaging all referrals made to the clinic.
- Provide leadership and knowledge entrenched in evidence-based practice for pediatric patients and their care.
- Work collaboratively and in conjunction with the pediatric inpatient unit, NICU, POGO, BU, and PPU.
- Monitor and evaluate quality and satisfaction of the program through customer, staff, and physician feedback.
- Provide leadership and effectively manage complex clinical decisions.
Qualifications
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse.
- Recent experience working in a pediatric outpatient clinic preferred.
- Recent experience working with pediatrics (within the last 5 years) required.
- Experience and strong knowledge of childhood asthma, hematology, complex care, RSV, and ROP.
- Immunization knowledge and experience preferred.
- Experience with initiation of IVs and blood draws for children preferred.
- Certified Pediatric Asthma Educator preferred.
- NRP and PALS required or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire date.
- Education in breastfeeding preferred.
- Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative practice model with multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative and work autonomously utilizing critical thinking skills, and advanced decision-making, problem recognition, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with program development, quality improvement initiatives, and program evaluation.
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Proven success in providing leadership and effectively managing complex clinical decisions.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, professional development, and continuous quality improvement.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem assessment skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient and family-centered care and teamwork.
- Demonstrated individual leadership skills.
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Good working knowledge of Electronic Documentation.
- Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for patients and families as well as other members of the healthcare team within a challenging and exciting healthcare environment.
