About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Tri Lake Animal Hospital & Referral Centre in Lake Country, BC. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Veterinarians and Technicians with client support and treatment of pet patients, including low-stress restraint techniques
- Provide support to the Client Care service, occasionally covering shifts in reception when necessary
- Prepare medications and supplies for clients to take home (per DVM and RVT instruction)
- Provide compassionate care to hospitalized patients, including feeding and walking
- Handle and maintain surgical equipment, including setup, cleaning, and sterilization
- General hospital care, including cleaning kennels, restocking treatment areas, and maintenance of outdoor areas
Requirements
- Previous veterinary experience is an asset
- Exceptional client service skills that build trust and loyalty with clients
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with a dynamic and diverse team
- Compassion and nurturing attitude when providing care to clients and patients
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful situations
- Positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning
- Initiative in carrying out assignments independently
