Job Title: Fall Maintenance Worker / Cleaner (student)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fall Maintenance Worker / Cleaner (student) to join our team at Fort Henry National Historic Site of Canada. As a representative of one of Kingston's premium and internationally recognized tourism sites, you will be responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks to assist in the cleaning and upkeep of the site grounds, buildings, offices, and tour routes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform manual tasks to maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the site grounds, buildings, offices, and tour routes.
  • Provide support for Fort Henry's Fall event, Fort Fright.
  • Contribute to excellent customer service and a positive guest experience.
  • Work safely at all times and report unsafe activities immediately to your supervisor.
  • Embody the SLPC's equity, diversity, and inclusion principles while interacting with staff and guests.

Requirements:

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting, carrying, holding, bending, and stooping.
  • Mechanical aptitude to safely perform a variety of mechanical tasks, including using equipment related to the job.
  • Ability to identify, collect, and sort recyclable materials.
  • Ability to clean offices, wedding venues, washrooms, and tour routes, replacing supplies to serve the visiting public.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to provide excellent customer service using tact and discretion.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, alone, and/or with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal, guest, and fellow staff safety is maintained at all times.
  • Valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:

Variable hours, up to 36.25 hours per week, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.

Salary:

$16.35 per hour.

Period of Employment:

September 29 to October 31, 2023, with additional opportunities for winter events.
