- Educate Residents and Families: Educate residents and their families about health conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques, promoting empowerment and independence.
- Ensure Residents' Safety and Comfort: Ensure residents' safety and comfort by identifying and mitigating potential risks, and providing emotional support and reassurance.
- Document Residents' Health Status: Accurately document residents' health status, care provided, and any changes or concerns, ensuring seamless communication with the healthcare team.
- Respond to Emergencies: Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, providing immediate care and support as needed.
- Diploma from a Recognized RPN Program: Hold a diploma from a recognized Registered Practical Nurse program or equivalent.
- Registered Practical Nurse in Good Standing: Be a Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Experience in Long-Term Care: Have experience working in a long-term care or retirement home setting, with a strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges of this population.
- Physical Abilities: Possess the physical abilities to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach, with the ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently and assist clients with standing, walking, and sitting.
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR: Hold valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification.
- Updated Immunization Records: Maintain updated immunization records, including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Checks: Have clear Vulnerable Sector checks completed within the last six months.
- Valid G2/G Driver's License: Hold a valid G2/G driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle, with a minimum of 100% vehicle ownership.
